Ocular Pigmentation after Long Term Use of Chlorpromazine
Choi Jin-A

Kim Su-Young
Abstract
Purpose: To report two cases of ocular changes after long term use of chlorpromazine.

Methods: Two cases were presented with decreased visual acuity after long term use of chlorpromazine due to schizophrenia.

Results: They showed corneal granular pigment deposition in post. stroma, Descemet membrane and endothelium, stellate ant. subcapsular cataract involving visual axis, and also decreased corneal endothelial cell count, which were persistent, although the chlorpromazine was changed into olanzapine.

Conclusions: In cases of patients taking chlorpromazine, the regular ocular examination should be considered, because ocular pigment deposition occurs according to the accumulative dosage of the medicine.
